Then, after every storm, have some rocks wash up on the shore. Instead of that, why not have these basic resources respawn the way fibrous leaves do? There's a bunch of small trees on every island, have them grow back every 3 or 7 days (or let us plant them) so we can harvest them for sticks. I mean, theoretically I can, but I need to quit the game, go into Cartographer mode, create a custom island, fill it with resources, harvest them, delete island. What I can't do, however, is infinitely craft basic things like spears or building parts. I don't have to worry about anything, because I'm perfectly self sufficient and if I feel like adding some animal protein to my diet, a giant hog and two giant grabs are always hanging around. I currently have 6 yucca plants, 9 water stills, 3 fruit trees and all I'm really missing is a lounger to kick back on and an umbrella to keep the sun off me during the hottest part of the day (seriously though, the fact that we have neither in the game really sucks). Plant a few yuccas, get fibrous leaves for a water still, get water, use it to grow fruit, eat fruit, survive until yucca grows back. I like this game because it's almost realistic enough to simulate an actual survival situation, more so than any other game I've seen out there.TL DR - small trees should grow back and rocks should "wash up" on the beach from time to time.Īt this point you can reach a level of self-sustainability that allows you to basically just exist. This game is more gritty and realistic, although both games are very unrealistic when it comes to the wildlife attacking you. Some people have compared this game to Raft, I have Raft, and no they aren't the same thing. I've been waiting for a while before purchasing it because I wasn't sure it was worth it but I'm happy I got it. A simple spear will get you small crabs, but fish is the sustainable option longer term.ĭespite the bugs (boar falling from the sky, fish swimming above the water, etc) this game is enjoyable. Water and food are your first priority, yes you can get water from coconuts but you will run out fast and its a pain to get enough of them to keep up with your thirst. Your skills only increase when you use them and you need the higher level stuff simply to survive.Ħ. Craft, craft, craft, craft, and craft some more. DO NOT attempt to throw things into the raft, it's not going to work out the way you would like.ĥ. Use the wooden crates and keep them in your inventory, they each expand your carrying capacity by 5. The first island I went to, I died in like 3 seconds because I had 2 crabs and a boar thingy gang up on me. Spend some time watching vids so you can figure this out before jumping into the game, it'll save you a lot of frustration.ģ.

I find this annoying to say the least because you have to scroll through EVERYTHING to find the one thing you want to craft instead of selecting the crafting station and just getting that ONE THING you want to craft. The UI is not intuitive, for example, when making leather or planks you stand next to the crafting station and then go into your crafting menu rather than selecting the crafting station. The compass is on the raft, USE THE COMPASS! Your tiny island doesn't have enough resources so you will have to go scavenging and you WILL get lost very easily.Ģ. I don't review games much, but for this one, I had too.
